Role: UX Designer
Responsibilities: Paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, back-end development, accounting for accessibility, and iterating on designs.
Brief: Curate a compilation of 100 images and classify them into 3 distinct categories. Initiate the process of transforming your compilation into a website. Explore innovative approaches to showcasing these visuals, emphasizing your central theme and the interrelationships uncovered within your collection.
Tools: HTML, CSS & JS
Overview
This collection presents an examination of 'nature' and 'nurture' in isolation, as well as the intricate outcomes when they're integrated together - referred to as 'texture'. I chose to entitle this collection ‘Convergence’, a term defined as the amalgamation of two or more elements to create a new whole.
Wireframes
Seeking a peer's input for an alternate perspective prompted me to pause and delve into the narrative of each section. This, in turn, informed the seamless integration of these concepts into the website's design. Consequently, I explored the possibility of employing a chaotic layout to mirror the disorderly essence of 'nature,' adopting a structured grid for 'nurture' to symbolise humanity's yearning for order and routine. Lastly, I merged these approaches for 'texture' to explicitly represent the collaboration between 'nature' and 'nurture.'

Final Design
Subsequently, I wanted a purposeful overlap as the chaotic form of 'nature' evolves into the structured arrangement of 'nurture.' This serves to vividly portray humanity's active intervention in their surroundings and their persistent quest for the meaning of existence within their environment. Moreover, my intention was to trace the evolution of societal values, transitioning from a focus on individuals and families — exemplified by the portrayal of Papua New Guinea tribes — to contemporary icons like music artists, the influence of social media, the prominence of Bitcoin, and the rise of AI. These symbols encapsulate the present ideals that society exalts. Similarly, I aspired to create a seamless convergence between the preceding sections and the ongoing narrative as users transition into 'texture.' This allows them to witness the synergistic outcomes of 'nature' and 'nurture,' illustrating the delicate equilibrium and harmonious coalescence that can emerge.
